Sutera Harbour 7k Sunset Charity Run 2008

The 8th Sutera Harbour 7K Sunset Charity Run 2008 will take place on Saturday, 26th July 2008 at the Sutera Harbour Marina & Country Club.

The 7k Run, as it’s referred to by locals, is one of Sabah’s biggest annual community charity events and is taking place this year for the eighth consecutive year.

Registration fees are RM20.00 per adult and RM10.00 per child or student and includes the coveted event T-shirt.

Last year more than 7,000 people registered for the Run and this year the target is 10,000 registrations.

There are no winners as such at the 7k Run. All participants who complete the 7km route within 77 minutes qualifies to win lucky draw prizes drawn at the much anticipated post-Run concert.

Additionally, live entertainment, food and games stalls add to the festive carnival atmosphere, with proceeds of stall sales being split between the vendors and the 7K Charity Run beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries of this year’s 7k Run are Special Olympics Sabah and the Sabah Thalassaemia Society, two non-profit organisations located in Kota Kinabalu.

Special Olympics Sabah (SOS) provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions, in a variety of Olympic-type sports, for children and adults with mental handicaps.

Meanwhile, the Sabah Thalassaemia Society provides medical services to patients of Thalassaemia, a heridetary blood disorder that requires regular blood transfusions and often bone marrow transplants.

The guest of honour to flag off the run is YB Peter Pang, Minister of Youth & Sports Sabah.

The main sponsors, who contribute generously to make the 7k run possible, is Digi and F&N 100 Plus. The event is supported by the Ministry of Youth & Sports Sabah.
