ContestBeat.com - Contest About Contests

contestbeat contest

I found another weird contest from Link bait web blog for everyone. Its about a blog similar like eMenang that name themselves as Contest Beat (CB). To be precise, Contest Beat is holding not their first but two back-to-back blog competition.

Here are some details regarding their contest:

Contest 1: 1st October to 15th October 2007

CB want to find out what all you guys and girls think would be the absolute coolest contest prize, with the widest range of appeal, for a giveaway. Before you say $1,000,000, or a Ferrari, or an island or something, there are two conditions, it must cost US$100 or under and be able to be sent basically anywhere in the world from where you buy it (wherever that may be).

Once you’ve thought of what you think would be a wicked prize for a contest CB want you to blog or write about it on your website, including a brief reason why you reckon it’s so great. This should be done in its own post and also include a link back to the original contest post (with any anchor text) on Contest Beat. Once you’ve got that sorted, make a comment at the official contest page and include the URL to the post you made and you’re in!

Prizes

Come October 15 CB will pick two winners:

  • First, $50 (via Paypal or Amazon gift certificate - winners choice) will go to the person who came up with the best prize, in CB opinion. This will be based on both the contest prize suggested and the reasoning to go with it (so two or more people who suggest the same prize can be differentiated).
  • Secondly, and because CB don’t want to disadvantage those of you who might be a little less creative than your counterparts, $50 (via Paypal or Amazon gift certificate - once again, winners choice) will also go to a randomly selected entrant.

CB will also be linking back to all the entrants and their respective entries in the same post that declares the winner, just so that everyone can check out all the cool ideas that people thought up (and maybe get some ideas for their own contests - nudge, nudge, wink, wink).

You can hedge your bets and enter as many times as you like on different blogs you run, however each post you make must be about a different prize with different reasoning to go along with it, and as CB said entry will close on October 15. If you have any questions please comment away, otherwise CB look forward to reading what everyone comes up with!

Contest 2: 16th October to 31st October 2007

Some of you might have already guessed what the prize in this contest will be, but since no one actually knows exactly what it will be yet, CB won’t say anymore. Look out for an announcement on this sometime around when the first contest ends :D.

#########

A large portion of this post was extracted from the original contest post to maintain the integrity of the competition. As usual, I would most definitely enter any contest that I review on eMenang blog. So here is my entry for this contest.

CB needed something that can be posted worldwide. I personally think what he meant is the postal fee for delivering the prize must not exceed the value of prize itself. In another word, it must be cost effective if it is going to be delivered anywhere around this world. Once I received T-shirt from US and surprisingly it cost nearly 9 bucks. That’s nearly worth MYR 30 in my country (Equivalent to 4 McD’s Mc Value meal). So now we had narrow down the quest a little bit. We are looking for a prize that as light as possible.

CB is also looking for a prize that people from the rest of this world would be happy to win it. Well we cant possibly make everyone happy so I guess what he actually meant is a prize that majority of people from all over the continent would be jumping up and down if he/she won it. In another word, we are searching for a globally recognized prize. Ok, that’s would be a very good specs for me to complete this task.

So here is my shot. The best prize that I can recommend is a portrait of the winner himself/herself. Since it would be impossible to shake hand with the winner, perhaps CB can include his picture along together with the winner of contest and put it all up on a nicely sketched portrait.

Why portrait? Unlike any technical gadget out there, a picture will last almost forever. Anyone who win something will most probably cherish those wonderful portrait with friends & family (maybe they’ll hang up the picture on living room or keep it in their collection scrap book). As an added bonus, the precious winning moment is actually being kept forever on a canvas/paper. Someday people will notice and say who is that person in the picture with you. How proud it is when the winner said, “Oh, that the person from Contest Beat. He was the one that send me the coolest prize I’ve ever seen… Picture of me…Picture of a winner… Hehehe”

To even save some cost, perhaps CB can opt not to do the ‘framing’ part of the portrait. I’ve google around and found several websites that offer portrait drawing service but they do charge quite expensive. As an alternative, I manage to find few freelance artist through their blogsite that offer the same service at much lesser price (Average between $80-$100). I’m sure there’s much more cheaper alternative using various drawing mediums and packages out there if CB dig a little deeper.

To recap, my ideal prize that cost not more than $100 is a portrait. And here’s a couple of reasons why I reckon it is a good prize..

  • CB can ask the winner send their most favorite picture to be portrait. (This way CB can ensure that the winner will be totally anxious/pleased to see the final product)
  • CB can hire freelance artist or maybe art student to minimize the cost. (Cost of prize is very flexible)
  • Portrait can be send worldwide easily with minimum headache of postal charges.
  • CB can avoid any warranty issue that might exist between them and the winner later in the future because portrait don’t have any warranty (Err.. do they? I’ve seen some winner/organizer in the end quarreled each other just because some minor issue with prize.. Yuckss… Better avoid it at all cost)
  • Technically CB is giving out one-of-a-kind prize that has a personal touch in it. (Since there will only be 1 copy of the portrait in this world)

Well that’s my entry for this contest. Hope I win it… Hehehehe..
